Once in a great while, a breeding program has to “jump off the cliff” and work outside of their comfort zone to stay fresh. So we did, with the purchase of Benraz Magnifique. After persistently attempting to lease or purchase the mare for over a year, with the specific vision of breeding her to *El Nabila B, our dream of owing her became a reality at Scottsdale 2011. Unbeknownst to us, and much to our excitement, she had been bred to the stallion we had selected for her, but by another party. She came home to live with us, and shortly thereafter, she foaled the supremely handsome Sparrow MF.

Sparrow MF perfectly embodies the exceptional characteristics that have made his sire famous the world over, and his dam a revered broodmare. If his large, luminous, and piercing black eyes do not give it away, his true type, desert dry black skin, and powerful structure are distinctly the work of his sire, US and Brazilian National Champion Senior Stallion *El Nabila B.

Sparrow’s dam Benraz Magnifique is a prime example of the type and ethereal beauty that made the Arabian horse famous. She has quality in abundance; from her stellar structure and over-the-top drama to her long and elegantly shaped neck and always flagged tail carriage. It is her commanding presence that brings all of these qualities into focus as she meets your eyes. This is the kind of mare that makes a great breeding stallion, and it is our confidence in her that creates excitement in Sparrow’s future breeding potential.
