• Erykk MF x Cerrah

Riviera MF is the realization of Maplewood’s effort to infuse additional Comet blood into our breeding program and create a replacement for our beloved *Era. *Era was purchased after a successful show career as a Park horse, and served a foundation broodmare, producing for us the exceptionally gifted trotting-machine Erykk MF.

Riviera’s dam Cerrah was leased by Maplewood for the 2008-2009 breeding season. Our interest in Cerrah was based on her strong resemblance to *Era, and based on that fact that like Erykk, her dam is a *Carycyn daughter. Cerrah also brings to the breeding a pedigree which includes some of the most famous Polish trotting stallions in the breed, including Gdansk and *Wiraz – creating a pedigree intensely linebred to *Bask, Comet, Trypolis and Wielki Szlem. Additionally, Cerrah traces in tail female to the fantastic US National Reserve Champion Futurity Mare Four Winds Kitkat, the foundress of a line of an incomparable show horses, including the more recent US National Champion Mare Maggdalina.

Riviera is exactly what we hoped for from this cross, combining her dam’s finely sculpted head, with dry, thin and vascular skin and an incredibly refined and shapely neck, along with Erykk’s extreme trotting ability, length of leg, and excellent overall proportions. Riviera is very reminiscent of her exceptional granddam, and Maplewood’s foundation mare *Era, exhibiting the same dramatic presence and extreme motion from all four corners of the trot. She will be among the first in a line of talented English prospects sired by Erykk MF for Maplewood Farm.
