Our attempts to include AA Apollo Bey blood in Maplewood’s line up began in the early 90’s when we tried to breed our Polish import, *Erwina (Palas x Elegancja), to him. Years have passed, and we still regret that our efforts to cross these individuals failed to produce a foal.

Scroll forward to summer of 2009, when the Rookers offered AA Apollo Bey’s stand out daughter Shreddin Betty in an Addis Sale; she sold in aggressive bidding as a two year-old to an avid show horse string owner. For two years following, we monitored her progress and tried to purchase her private treaty. Ultimately, twenty years after our first attempt to incorporate AA Apollo Bey to our program, we were successful! Betty arrived just in time to be bred late summer to Erykk MF.

With Betty’s phenotype, talent, upright carriage, bright expression, “game” attitude and certainly the heritage her pedigree can profess, we feel this athletic cross is a worthy realization of a dream we envisioned years ago. We’ve had few opportunities to access Eter AND Essaul blood, and to find both in ONE horse, and with our previous successes with Huckleberry Bey crossed with Erykk’s characteristics, there are multiple genetic hints this cross may be golden. Time will tell.

Additionally, Betty is a talented show horse prospect. We have been fortunate to inherit the training of Rookers and Stachowskis as the foundation of her English Pleasure career, should we chose to campaign her.
